Harold P. Burnett, age 90, of Huron, SD, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 ,at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron With military honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Harold Phillip Burnett, the son of Roy F. and Myra (Katz) Burnett, was born on August 6, 1924 on the family farm in Iowa Township, SD. He attended country school. Harold served his country in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Bunker Hill during World War II, and was honorably discharged in December of 1945 with the rank of Seaman second Class. Harold married Ethel Lorraine Cook on April 1, 1949 in Huron, SD. The couple made their home in Huron where Harold worked for the Armour Meat Packing Company. He also worked for Carol and Marty Anderson on their farm in Broadland, SD. Harold was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Huron. He loved to read Western novels, and watch Western movies. Harold enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Grateful for having shared in Harold's life are his three children: Roy (Tina) Burnett, of Huron, SD; Jessica (Dave) Hofer, of Omaha, NE, and Harold Burnett, of Watertown, SD, nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; many brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel in 2011; and several brothers and sisters.
