Harold Borkowski, age 72, of 459 Montana Ave. SW, Huron, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 9, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Daniel Domke officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 8:00 pm at the Welter Funeral Home with a Devotional Service at 6:00 pm and the family present until 7:00 pm, or Friday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church. Harold LeRoy Borkowski was born on March 4, 1935, to Rudolph and Emma (Elias) Borkowski in Wessington Springs, SD. He attended schools in Wessington Springs until 1952 when he attended high school at the South Dakota School of Agriculture in Brookings where he graduated in 1954. On September 4, 1954, Harold married Esther Miller in Wessington Springs. He farmed in Beadle County until 1972; worked for Milk Producers until 1980; and was a truck driver until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and the Huron Area Antique Power Association. He thoroughly enjoyed restoring Co-op tractors and tinkering with old farm machinery. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Huron; 4 sons, Tommy (Cindy) Borkowski of Huron, Ralph (Kim) Borkowski of Huron, Jim (Kaelene) Borkowski of Huron, and Paul (Vic) Borkowski of Virginia Beach, VA; 6 grandchildren, Jenni, Mandi, Darci, Andrew, Kira, and Janie; 1 great grandchild, Lincoln; 3 sisters, Doris (Herschel) Liebnow of Wolsey, Edna (Clarence) Snyder of Cottage Grove, MN, and Lois Warfield of Fairfax, VA; 1 brother, Walter (Marianne) Borkowski of Wessington Springs; and 1 sister-in-law, Penny Borkowski of Wessington Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Vernon Borkowski.
