Greg Long, age 56, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his home in Huron. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 12-2 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron.

Greg Long was born on June 2, 1962 in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents Roy and Shirley (Kinkle) Long. Greg grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. He attended Lake Area Vo-Tech, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Business.  Greg married Roberta Aslesen in Waubay, South Dakota. Greg worked as a Quality Control Specialist at LSI and at the time of his passing, Dakota Provisions.

Greg was an avid outdoorsman. He most especially enjoyed teaching the next generation of hunters the importance of hunter safety. He, with fellow hunters, started the South Dakota Bowhunter Education Foundation. He enjoyed building traditional long bows and taxidermy. Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing with his many friends and family.

Greg is survived by his children Josh (Kim) Long of Brookings, SD and Lauren Long of Watertown, SD. Four grandchildren Kaylee Uttecht, Conner, Lexie and Emery Long; brothers Randy Woods, Danny Woods, Jerry (Kathy) Long, and Donald Long; sister Diana Horvath; his first wife, Roberta of Watertown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
