Gracie Lorenz, age 71, of Cavour, SD, died on Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Iroquois, SD.

Her visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral home, Tuesday night; or one prior to the service Wednesday morning.

Gracie Spencer, the daughter of Delbert and Agnes (Brudvig) Spencer, was born on December 19, 1938, in Arlington, SD. Gracie married Roger Lorenz on April 2, 1955 in Pipestone, MN. She was a homemaker.

Gracie enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, playing cards, and traveling. She enjoyed target shooting and loved to teach her grandkids how to shoot and ride ATVs. Grace loved to visit family and friends and to spend time with them. She had a good sense of humor, and always enjoyed a good joke.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Debra (Terry) Ascher of Pierre, SD, Ed (Tami) Lorenz of Billings, MT, and John (Brenda) Lorenz of Huron, SD; 7 grandchildren: Travis Ascher, Tom Ascher, Chad Lorenz, Chris Lorenz, Trent Ascher, Megan Lorenz, and Ashley (Allen) Neuharth; 3 great-grandchildren: Taylor Forbes, Cameron Lorenz, and MaLeah Lorenz; siblings: Delores Corbin, Carthage, SD, Marie (Howard) Blachford, Orient, SD, Delbert (Marcy) Spencer, Huron, SD, Mary (Bernie) Tyrrell, Sioux Falls, SD, and Richard Spencer, Dell Rapids, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Gracie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roger Lorenz in 1988; her second Husband, R.J. Ward in 1999; and sister, Peggy Lorenz in 1976.
