Obituary

Goldie M. Boggs, age 89, of Wessington, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society-Miller in Miller, South Dakota. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 11, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wessington with burial at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Miller. Visitation will begin at 8:30 AM until the time of service at the church.

Goldie May Palmer was born on April 1, 1929 in Armour, South Dakota to parents Curtis J. and June W. (Ferguson) Palmer. Goldie attended school in Armour and Platte, South Dakota.

Goldie married Kenneth D. Rehder on November 21, 1945 in Lake Andes, South Dakota. They had two children, Darlene and Dale. Kenneth passed away on October 23, 1979.

Goldie worked wherever she lived, which was many places. Goldie worked from Fairbanks, Alaska to the Florida Keys. She touched many lives throughout her travels. She owned the Home Café in Madison, SD then moved to New Castle, Wyoming on to Sheridan. She then worked in Fairbanks, Alaska for 4 years then built Blue Spruce on top of Big Horn Mountain, West of Sheridan, Wyoming for the next ten years. She then went to the Florida Keys where she worked for Pantry Pride and K-mart. She met and married Harry Boggs in 1981. In 1983, they moved to Pea Ridge, Arkansas where she worked several years and owned the Avoca Truck Stop for four years. Harry passed away in 1994. Goldie then returned to South Dakota to be closer to her sisters and brothers.

Goldie was a member of American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Joseph's and St. Ann's Catholic Churches.

Goldie was proud of the fact that she learned how to use a computer at the age of 82 so she could keep in contact with her kids and grandchildren and great-great grandchildren on Facebook.

Goldie is survived by her children Darlene Rehder of Ohio and Dale Rehder of Ranchester, Wyoming. Five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Her sisters; Barbara Johnson of Hermosa, SD and Betty Carmody of Wessington.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; parents June and Shiel Carmody; father Curtis J. Palmer; sisters Mary (Wilbur) Mattson, Frances Carmody; brothers Daniel Carmody and John Carmody. Great-grandson Aron Rehder and a nephew.
