Glenda Teveldal, age 67, of Tulare, SD, died Thursday, November 2, 2006, at Avera McKenna Hospital at Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, November 6, at the United Church of Tulare with Revs. Cori and Jim Waisanen officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday morning. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Glenda Teveldal was born Glenda Uttecht on March 19, 1939, to Carl and Bertha (Fastnacht) Uttecht in Huron, SD. The family was living in the Alpena area at the time of her birth and where Glenda grew up and attended country school. She graduated from Alpena High School in 1957. On June 6, 1957, Glenda married Ivan Teveldal in Alpena. In the fall of 1957 they moved to Tulare, SD; later to Wessington Springs where they lived for several years; then back to a farm near Tulare in 1968. They moved into Tulare in 1975 and Glenda worked in maintenance for the public school system. In 1976 she became the bookkeeper for Hansen Motors Company in Redfield, a position she held for 20 years until ill health forced her retirement in 1996. Glenda then worked as a hostess for the South Dakota State Park System at West Whitlock State Park near Gettysburg for 3 years. She then assumed the same role at Richmond Lake State Park near Aberdeen until poor health prevented her from continuing. She was assisted in these endeavors by Ivan. In 2001, both Glenda and Ivan received the South Dakota State Park Volunteer Award; in 2002, Glenda received the Outstanding Public Service to the Community Caring Jefferson Award sponsored through Keloland TV; in 2005, she was honored with the Mother of the Year Award through the efforts of the United Church of Tulare. Glenda was a member of the United Church of Tulare, and a charter member of the Sisters in Spirit in Tulare. She was active in her church as the church organist, director of the church choir for many years, and a Sunday school teacher. Her many interests included camping, fishing, crocheting (she crocheted a blanket for each grandchild), playing dominoes and dice for fun, flower and vegetable gardening, word-find puzzles, and collecting teddy bears and angels. She also was the family specialist in baking lefsa. She is survived by her husband, Ivan of Tulare; 1 son, Craig Teveldal of Britton; 3 daughters, Dawn (Randy) Woodward of Tulare, Shelly (Tony) Binger of Tulare, and Becky (William) Rernleitner of Tulare; 10 grandchildren, Jason Teveldal, Sarah Teveldal, Alissa Teveldal, Jay T. Woodward, Kacey (Joel) Schumacher, Tanner Binger, Grayson Binger, Zachary Binger, Steven Rernleitner, and Amanda Rernleitner; 1 brother, Ron (Carol Ann) Uttecht of Woonsocket; 2 sisters, Karen (Lawrence) Kopfmann of Alpena, and Dianna (Darrell) Neuharth of Alpena; and her special cat Peetsie. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a granddaughter, Kim Ann Woodward.
