Glen Irvin Allbee, age 85, of Woonsocket, SD, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with burial at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery and military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation with the family present will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday April 6, at the Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Glen Allbee, the son of Ellis and Bessie (Wilcox) Allbee, was born on July 15, 1928 in Huron, SD. He attended school in Huron. Glen served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in November of 1952. Glen married Beverley Burnett on June 6, 1959 at the Methodist church in Huron, SD. The couple farmed north of Huron and then at Woonsocket until his retirement in 2009. Glen was a member of the American Legion Post #9 in Woonsocket, SD, and the VFW Forrest McMullen Post #1776 in Huron. Glen was also a member of the NFO (National Farmers Organization) and the Farmer's Union. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Huron where he volunteered for many years. He enjoyed playing pool, and pheasant and deer hunting in his younger years, but above all else, Glen loved to farm. Grateful for having shared in Glen's life are his wife Beverley of Woonsocket, SD; son, Aaron (Julie) Allbee, of Woonsocket, SD; daughter, Robin (Myron) Baysinger of Wickenburg, AZ; grandson, Dereck Allbee of Woonsocket, SD; granddaughter Jill (Robert) Rounds of Huron, SD; sister, Ione Buckley of Huron, SD; and a number of nieces and nephews. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Leo, Lloyd, Maurice, and Louis Allbee; and sister, Alice Cooper.
