Gladys Dick, age 91, of Huron, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Avantara in Huron, South Dakota. Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with a luncheon to be served immediately following Gladys funeral . Burial will follow the luncheon at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gladys Lavonne was born on February 11, 1932 in Mt. Lake, Minnesota to parents Friedrich and Elsie (Stenke) Oeltjenbruns. She attended District 80 East school for 8 years. She was extremely proud of earning her GED in 1982.

Gladys married Harvey Dick on February 11, 1951 in Mt. Lake. They farmed in Mt. Lake from 1951 to 1960 before moving to Huron in 1960. Gladys worked for Raven Industries and then for the Huron School District in the food service department for many years.

She loved to be outside fishing, camping and tending to her flower garden. She also loved to host card parties. She showed her love with cooking wonderful meals and making delicious desserts. Her family will miss her fiery spirit.

She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte McMahon (Bill Smoot) of St. Onge, SD, Glenn (Karen) Dick of Huron, and Pamela (Dick) Biel of Huron; 7 grandchildren, Keegan (Brittany) McMahon, Erin (Dan) McGaugh, Jeremy (Maggie) Dick, Nathan Dick, Audrey Dick, Jacob Biel, and Joshua (Kortne) Biel; 7 great-grandchildren, Reva, Natalee, Lane and Marcella McGaugh, Chloe, Marrisa and Ethan Dick;

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harvey in 2003; son-in-law, Michael McMahon in 2013; brother Raymond (Verna) Oeltjenbruns and sister Caroline (Lawrence) Johnson.
