Obituary

Gerhardt A. Louie Jungemann, age 85, of Huron, formerly of Wolsey, SD, died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

His Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in rural Wolsey.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Sunday night; or Monday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gerhardt A. Jungemann, the son of Carl J. and Louise (Schnabel) Jungemann, was born on March 19, 1925, on the family farm in rural Wolsey, SD. He attended school at the Weeks Country School and St. Johns Parochial School in Wolsey. Louie married Lorraine Horn on August 28, 1949, at her familys home near Wolsey, SD. Louie farmed near Wolsey for many years before retiring in 1998.

Louie was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wolsey, SD, having helped build the present Church. Louie also served on the Allen Township School Board and St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery Board for many years. He enjoyed farming, playing cards, and listening to polka music. Louies most enjoyable times were the times he spent with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Lorraine of Wolsey, SD; 2 sons, Lester (Shelly) Jungemann of Wolsey, SD, and Rod (Lynette) Jungemann also of Wolsey, SD; 2 daughters, Lavonne Luellman, and Ronda (Shane) Price, both of Huron, SD; 7 grandchildren: Jean Jungemann, Kris (Becky) and Dawn Luellman, Melissa and Brad Jungemann, and Nathan and Dustin Price; 9 great-grandchildren: Colton Jungemann, Kieren, Kaden, Kaylor, Kash Luellman, Jadayah, Devante, Quinston, and Aryanna Luellman; 2 foster-granddaughters, Nikkeya and Nikkita; 2 sisters, Hazel (Harry) Haeder of De Smet, SD, and Geraldine (Vernon) Kahre of Huron, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Wesley in 1952; and his brother, Harley Jungemann in 1998.
