Obituary

Geraldine "Gerry" Nuhring, age 68, of 431 Ohio Ave. NW, Huron, died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at her home.

Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery at Miller, SD.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. and a Rosary at 7 p.m.; or Wednesday morning one hour prior to the mass at the church.

Gerry Nuhring was born Geraldine Kay Mossholder on October 21, 1940 to LeRoy Edgar and Marjorie Charlotte (Knapp) Mossholder at Dixon, Illinois. She moved to South Dakota as a child and attended country schools at rural Miller and graduated from Miller High School.

On August 6, 1957 Gerry married William Nuhring at Miller, SD. They moved to Huron in 1964 where she has lived since that time. She was a claims representative for the Social Security Administration.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Holy Trinity auxiliary, Fireman's auxiliary and volunteered at the St. Francis shop for many years. Her many hobbies included bingo, rummage sales, antique stores and coffee with friends.

She is survived by her husband William of Huron; two daughters, Cindie (Jim) Almond of Huron and Kris (Kurt Sandquist) Olson of Groton, SD; five grandchildren, Emily (Lee) Aamold, Jeremy (Angie) Coon, Darmi (Justin Bates) Coon, Adam (Jessica) Olson and Sadie Almond; four great-grandchildren, Cylas Bates, Jaden and Kya Olson and Jakop Coon; one step grandson, Chad Almond; four step great-grandchildren, Allen Almond, Justin, Nathan and Dylan Larson; two sisters, Helen (Herman, Jr) Oligmueller of Salem, and Glenyce DeGeest of Sioux Falls; one sister-in-law, Virginia (Bud) Stearns of Colorado Springs, CO and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters-in-law, Pat Cavenee and Mary (Ray) Haeffner, one brother-in-law, Clinton DeGeest, and a great niece and nephew, Mark and Ashley Oligmueller and one son-in-law Ron Coon.
