Geri Seigenthaler, age 88, of Huron, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Avantara Huron in Huron, South Dakota. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-6 pm with the family present from 5-6 pm Monday, August 24 at the Welter Funeral Home. Please follow CDC guidelines and masks are recommended.
Geraldine Marie Morrill was born on March 15, 1982, 3 miles North of Huron to Frank and Kathryn (Hanson) Morrill. She went to country school until she was 14 when her family moved to Huron. She graduated from Huron High School in 1950. Geri worked for several stores while going to school.
Geri married Glen Engel in 1950. They had two children, Diane and Bret, and traveled throughout the United States. She returned to Huron in 1968 and worked at Randall Foods. Geri then married Ray Seigenthaler on November 29, 1969. Geri ran a day care for several years and also worked with a group called FISH helping older people.
Geri was a lifelong member of American Lutheran Church and did volunteer work for the church.
Geri is survived by her husband, Ray of Huron; her son, Bret (Holly) Engel of Des Moines, IA, two grandsons, Cody (Eileen) Buckland of Omaha, Kelly Buckland of Council Bluffs, and one granddaughter, Cassie Buckland of Kansas City, KS; great-grandson, Ace Anders and step-great-grandson, Jackson Anders of Kansas City, KS; sisters-in-law, Connie Lewis of Sioux Falls, and Bonnie (Peter) Guagliardi of Brooklyn, NY, brother-in-law, Dwight (Renea) Seigenthaler of Sioux Falls and many nieces and nephews.
