Gerald Daly, Jr., known as "Jerry" or "Junior", age 53, of Huron, SD, died Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at 1:30 p.m. at Lake View Cemetery in Columbia, SD. Visitation with family present will be Monday, September 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home; or Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service. Gerald Michael Daly, Jr., son of Gerald Sr. and Connie (Severson) Daly, was born on June 4, 1961, in rural Britton, SD. He attended elementary school in Columbia, high school in Groton, and after his family moved to Huron in September 1977 he attended and graduated from Huron High School in 1979. He worked as a foreman for Pullman Well Drilling Company for many years until ill health forced his retirement. Jerry greatly appreciated the time that he was able to spend with his son, Beau, over the years. He also enjoyed spending time with extended family, hunting, camping, listening to music, and attending the annual catfish derby. He loved the seasonal changes that the midwest offered, however, the Fall was his favorite time of year, and he loved to gather with family during the holidays. Jerry will always be remembered for his huge heart and willingness to help anyone at anytime or anywhere. He is survived by his son, Beau Michael DeJean; 5 siblings, Rodney (Kim) Daly of Huron, Janet (Doug) Brodersen of Wolsey, Cindy (Mike) Kasa of Huron, Shirley (Kelly) Jorgenson of Watertown, and Marilyn LaTourelle of Elmwood, WI; 12 nieces and nephews, Cody Daly, Carissa Daly, Kurt (Nicki) Dorris, Alan (Ashley) Dorris, Troy (Erica Deming) Dorris, Ryan Kasa, Kyle (Samantha Peters) Kasa, Melissa Kasa, Jenna Jorgenson, Bryce Jorgenson, Meghan LaTourelle, and Brenden LaTourelle; several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and parents.
