George Zoss, age 61, of Huron, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 27, 2014, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 1-2 pm Friday before the service at the funeral home. George Allen Zoss was born in Mitchell on December 9, 1952, to Charlie and Margie (Radensleben) Zoss. He attended Forestburg Public Schools. After he had completed his formal education George worked as a sheep herder and as a truck driver. He married Pamela Axtman on October 5, 1991, in Huron. The family made their home in Wolsey as George worked for the Struck Farms. He and Pamela moved to Huron in 2006. George enjoyed gardening, cooking, carpentry, fishing, horses, and motorcycles when he was younger. George is survived by his children, Allen Zoss of Huron, Khrystyna Axtman of Redfield, and Halli Pratt of Sioux Falls; four siblings, Elmer (Traci) Zoss of Mitchell, Bill (Betty) Zoss of Letcher, Donna (Dean) Peterson of Mitchell, and Mark (Lynn) Zoss of Stickney; and several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pamela in 2012; son, Kevin Zoss in 2013; and one brother, Terry Zoss in 1995.
