George H. Crowell, age 83, of 1145 Illinois Ave. SW, Huron, died Friday, August 21, 2009, at his home in Huron.
His Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
George H. Crowell, the son of George H. and Agatha (Ray) Crowell, was born on July 8, 1926, in Pocahontas County in Iowa. He attended schools in the Pocahontas area and graduated from High School.
George married Henrietta Jessen in 1950; they were later divorced. George married Wanda Cantonwine on November 1977, in Huron, SD. The couple made their home in Huron. George worked as an Animal Plant and Health Inspector for the Federal Government for a number of years before retiring.
George enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was extremely talented at both.
George is survived by his wife, Wanda of Huron; 3 sons, Steven, Scott (Laurice) Bittner, both of Montana, and John Crowell of Olive Branch, MS; 3 daughters, Sandy Whipple of Huron, Sheryl Burnett of Aberdeen, SD, and Linda(Doug) Albertson of Minnesota; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Knapp of Leewood, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
