Geneve Pribyl, age 88, of rural Wolsey, SD, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Wolsey Prebyterian Church with burial at Wolsey Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. with family present at the Wolsey Presbyterian Church and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or Saturday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church.
Geneve Elnora Marlow was born October 30, 1921, in Bonilla, SD to Roy B. and Laura (Martin) Marlow. Her family moved to Norfolk, NE when she was very young. Geneve graduated from Norfolk High School in 1940, and attended North West Bible College in Minneapolis, MN.
On November 25, 1943, Geneve married Emmery J. Pribyl and lived on the family farm until August of this year. They had four children: Gary (Nina) Pribyl of Wolsey, SD; Gene Pribyl of Camp Crook, SD; Gordon (Linda) Pribyl of Denver, CO; and Gladys (Gregory) Hancock of Missouri Valley, IA.
Geneve was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wolsey. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women, the BYYs Extension Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Oasis Chapter 148 of Tulare.
Gen enjoyed her many friends and family, sewing, her spoon, thimble, and ruby red collections, gospel music, and her many, many angels.
Geneve is survived by her children; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Eva Seda of Norfolk, NE and Vera (Paul) Hubel of Ewing, NE; brother-in-law, Harold Kahler of West Point, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Geneve was preceded in death by her husband, Emmery; her parents; sisters, Valerie Marlow, Effie Kahler, and Laura (Dean) Filsinger; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Pribyl.
