He was born on March 17, 1939, in Huron, SD, to Louis and Lulu (Mattke) Allen. Gary proudly served in the United States Navy, and following his service, he married the love of his life, GiGi Dormady. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. An avid outdoorsman, Gary had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was also infamous for being the city marble champion, a regular at The Avenue, where he spent countless hours shooting pool. Gary's love for the outdoors was rivaled only by his competitive spirit and skill in pool. His talent earned him a well-deserved spot in the South Dakota 8-Ball Hall of Fame, where he was recognized for his steady hand, strategic mind, and sportsmanship. Many enjoyed his friendly games and the lasting impact he left on the local pool community.
