Frederic Busse, age 96, of Huron, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Huron Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 8, at United Church of Alpena with burial at Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpena.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-7 p.m.; or Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Frederic W. Busse, son of Fred and Myrtle (Winnington) Busse, was born on August 9, 1914, in Stanford, MT. In 1919, the family moved to Alpena, SD. Later on they moved to a farm north of Alpena on which Fred lived until 1989. He attended elementary school in Carlyle Township and graduated from Alpena High School. Freds Grandpa and Grandma Busse had homesteaded southwest of Alpena in 1884.

After moving to Huron in 1989, Fred had four very special families: Aleck and Edwina Larson, Bob and Judy Reilly, Ruby Creighton, and his friends and staff members at StoneyBrook Suites.

Fred always had a special place in his heart for dogs, enjoyed pheasant hunting, playing cards, and throwing a baseball around after a Sunday dinner.

He is survived by two first cousins, Phyllis Busse of Los Angeles, CA, and Burl Gray of Spokane, WA; and several extended cousins including Alvin Gray of Wessington Springs, SD, and Alan (Sonia) Thomas of Huron.

He was preceded in death by his father in June 1964 and his mother in September 1964; and his sister, Virginia Busse on March 18, 1983.
