Fred Fritz Dessonville, age 97, of rural Wessington, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Prairie Good Samaritan Center at Miller, SD. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, May 3rd at St. Josephs Catholic Church at Wessington with Father John Helmueller officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Wessington Masonic Lodge #107 AF & AM. Friends may call this Sunday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or Monday morning prior to the service at the church. Fred Lawrence Dessonville was born on November 11, 1906, to Theodore and Ida (Stiner) Dessonville at Atkinson, IL. He moved to South Dakota in 1909 with his family and lived in the Wessington area. He attended rural schools in the Grand Township area and he also attended Wessington High School. In 1930 he moved to Minnesota to help on a farm and then later he moved back to the Wessington and Wolsey area. On January 12, 1937, Fritz married Hazel Gose at Sioux Falls. They lived in the Wessington area and farmed since they were married. Hazel died on October 18, 1977. He was a 59 year member of the Wessington Masonic Lodge #107 AF & AM, Moose Lodge #760 of Huron and was a member of Grand Township board for many years. He is survived by one brother, Wilson Dessonville of Prairie Center at Miller, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four sisters, Florence Marshall, Alice Brown, Gertrude Buck and Elizabeth Matthews, and three brothers, Ed, Gilbert and Albert Dessonville.
