Fred I. Ehrk, age 70, of Wolsey, SD, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his home in Wolsey.
His Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 2, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in Wolsey, SD, with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Huron, SD.
Visitation, with family present, will be from 4-6 pm on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, SD, with a prayer service to begin at 6:00 PM; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Fred I. Ehrk, the son of Lloyd and Phyllis (Brown) Ehrk, was born on December 15, 1951 in Huron, SD. Fred was a lifetime resident of Wolsey, SD and graduated from Wolsey High School. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the Huron National Guard Unit for 6 years.
Fred married Sandra Cleveland on June 26, 1981 in Iroquois, SD. The couple made their home in Wolsey, SD and have lived there ever since.
Fred started driving truck for petroleum carriers in 1975. Fred owned and operated his own truck for 6 years. He then went to work driving for Harms Oil. Fred worked for Harms Oil until his illness forced him to retire in January of 2022.
Fred was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Wolsey, SD. He enjoyed researching old tractors. Fred also loved camping with his family and friends, but the times he enjoyed the most were playing with his grandkids who were his pride and joy.
Grateful for having shared in Fred's life are his wife, Sandy of Wolsey, SD; his son, Adam (Kari) Ehrk and their son, Bryce of Aberdeen, SD; two daughters, Ashley (Dylan Sumner) Ehrk of Huron, SD and Amber (Chad) Beck and their sons, Hayden and Huxton of Huron, SD; siblings: John (Sue) Ehrk of Huron, SD, Nancy (Jerry) Graves of Pierre, SD, and Mike (Julie) Ehrk of Florida; his in-laws: Barb (Dale) Reilly of Iroquois, SD and Karen (Kevin) Nelson of Huron, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Phyllis Ehrk; sister, Peggy Ehrk; niece, Cindy Ehrk; in-laws Harlan and Delores Cleveland; and brother-in-law, Bob Cleveland.
