Frank H. Blow, age 81, of rural Huron, died Thursday, December 15, 2005, at the Beverly Healthcare Center at Milbank, SD. His burial service was held on Wednesday, December 21, at the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis, SD, with Father Thomas Blow officiating and with full military honors . Frank H. Blow was born on October 15, 1924, to Ernie and Mary (Watznauer) Blow at Woonsocket, SD. He attended school at Ipswich, SD, and after the death of his mother he lived with his Aunt and Uncle, Tom and Ann Gardner, at Brockway, MT. On October 13, 1942, Frank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater with the 2nd Marine Division. He took part in the invasion of Tinian and Saipan. He was honorably discharged on October 24, 1945, and was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. On January 30, 1948, he re-enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War until his honorable discharge on March 17, 1951. On October 30, 1950, Frank married Loretta Raish in Huron. The couple made their home in Huron where Frank owned and operated the Blow Wholesale Distributing Company of Huron and Mitchell until his retirement. He also farmed, raised cattle, and operated a dairy with his wife and children. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Forrest McMullen VFW Post #1776, DAV, and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Loretta of Huron; 2 daughters, Mary Ann (John) Bruesh of Long Grove, IA, and Bonnie (Daniel) Eberhart of Romeoville, IL; 3 sons, Father Thomas Blow, O.F.M., of St. Bonaventure, NY, Dr. Jerry Blow of Sioux Falls, and Michael (Judy) Blow of Sioux Falls; 6 grandchildren; and 1 sister, Luella Orth of Livermore, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers; 1 sister; and 1 brother-in-law, Clarence Orth.
