Francis Bud Jensen, age 76, of 55 12th St. SW, Huron, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 4, at the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Saturday morning. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Francis Dale Jensen was born on September 11, 1927, to Arthur and Martha (Boheman) Jensen at Trail City, SD. He grew up and attended school at Trail City and then moved to Mobridge and graduated from Mobridge High School. He joined the United States Navy on September 12, 1945, and was honorably discharged on August 12, 1946. On September 5, 1949, Bud married Mabel Berg at Mobridge and they lived at Mobridge until 1952. They moved to Huron and he drove truck for various business in Huron. In 1966, he was employed with Armour and Company of Huron and then with Swifts and Dakota Pork until he retired in 1989. He continued to live in Huron. He was a member of the Forrest McMullen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1776, the William Reaves American Legion Post #7, and the American Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Mabel of Huron; one son, Steve Jensen of Piedmont; one daughter, Lynn (Nick) Nelson of Iroquois; seven grandchildren, Becky and Valerie Jensen, Fawn (Tim) Glanzer, Colleen (Brian) McManus, Dr. Nicole (Heath) Nelson - Kittelson, Pfc. Steve Nelson and Jeanie Nelson; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Annabelle Rueb of Hartford; and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, DeWayne, and one brother in infancy.
