Frances Doop, age 82, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW and formerly of 784 Illinois Ave. NW, Huron, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, March 22nd, at the Huron Christian Church with Pastor Aaron Jones officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 PM Monday at Elmwood Cemetery at Bruce, SD. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday morning. The family will be present from 6:30-8:00 PM Sunday evening at the Welter Funeral Home. Frances Doop was born Frances Mae Ford on April 22, 1921, to Carl and Bess (Tollefson) Ford in Brookings County near Bruce, SD. She attended grade school in Preston Township and graduated from Volga High School in 1939, and Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls. She was employed by the Social Security Administration in Miller, SD, as a stenographer. On October 25, 1941, Frances married Dale Doop in Huron. She moved back to Bruce and farmed with her husband until 1982. They moved to Huron in 1987 where she has lived since. She was a member of the Preston Christian Church at Bruce, the Huron Christian Church after moving to Huron, and the Preston Club for many years, as well as being active in church and community events. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Dick Tremel of Huron; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Joan Doop of Dexter, MI; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer and Ashleigh; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Darrel and Bette Ford of Bruce, SD; 5 brothers-in-law, Harley (Betty) Doop of Boerne, TX, Wayne (Caroline) Doop of Brookings, Dick (Joyce) Doop of Arlington, Gilmer (Marilyn) Doop of Bruce, and Cleland Montgomery of Yucaipa, CA; 4 sisters-in-law, Pauline (Dorance) Enevoldsen of Brookings, Dorothy Jacobson of Brookings, Virginia Crawford of Twentynine Palms, CA, and Lorraine Doop of Brookings; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale on December 11, 1995; and an infant daughter, Bonnie Mae.
