Floyd Kenneth Kopfmann, age 89, of Huron, formerly of Alpena, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. His funeral will be 10:30 am Monday, June 11, 2012 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 2-4 pm Sunday afternoon, June 10, 2012 at Welter Funeral Home with a 3 pm prayer service. Floyd Kenneth Kopfmann was born October 26, 1922 northwest of Alpena, SD to Carl and Tillie (Pederson) Kopfmann. Floyd attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Alpena High School. He attended a sheet metal school in Omaha. He then moved to San Diego, California to work for Consolidated Air Craft. Floyd married Alvina Ochsner on June 21, 1942 in Yuma, AZ. The couple move to Alpena in 1943 and purchased the family farm northwest of Alpena. In 2002, they move to Huron. Floyd was a member of the Beadle Electric Board for 31 years, Alpena School Board for 8 years, Alpena Co-op Board for 5 years, and the Jerauld County School Organization. He enjoyed hunting and tending to his crops and animals on the farm. Floyd is survived by his four children, Stan Kopfmann of Alpena and Calajean Kopfmann of Huron, Judeen Schley of Woonsocket, Galen Kopfmann of Chicago, IL, Duane (Leanne) Kopfmann of Alpena; seven grandchildren, Peggy Smith, Mike (Lisa) Kopfmann, Paul (Lynette) Wold, Kim (Joe) Beran, Bonnie (Brian) Brodersen, Rob (Alecia) Schley, Andrea Kopfmann; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Orville (Hilda) Kopfmann of Bloomington, MN; sister, Esther (Calvin) Neuharth of Huron; many nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 63 years, Alvina in 2005; brother, Clyde (Patsy) Kopfmann; and an infant granddaughter, Kristi Kopfmann.
