Floyd Ferguson, age 87, of Huron died, Thursday, July 30, 2015 at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. His funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at American Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Monday, August 3, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Floyd Andrew Kermit Ferguson was born on April 21, 1928 in rural Wessington to Frank and Katherine (Koch) Ferguson. The family moved to Huron in 1936 and he graduated from Huron High School in 1946. Floyd married Ione Johnson on June 3, 1946 at the Congregational United Church of Christ of Mitchell. He started working for Nehi Bottling Company at the age of 13 and worked there for over 10 years. Floyd then was a salesman for Western States Wholesale for over 30 years. He and Ione then worked part time as custodians, first at American Lutheran Church and then for Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron until they finally retired when Floyd was 82. He was a member of American Lutheran Church for many years. Floyd loved to hunt and fish with his family and many great memories revolve around hunting or fishing trips. In later years, he loved watching and feeding the squirrels and birds in his backyard. Floyd is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ione Ferguson of Huron; three children, Larry Ferguson of Huron, Kathy Schlueter of Huron, David (Pam) Ferguson of Huron; eight grandchildren, Seth Ferguson, Nicholas Ferguson, Todd Moldrem, Michele Johnson, Travis Ferguson, Trent Ferguson, Jason Ferguson, Brandy Ferguson; 21 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sister, Joy (Robert) Meyers of Yucca Valley, CA; many nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen (Wayne) McNutt and Evelyn (Merwin) Moore; son-in-law, Frank Schlueter Jr.
