Florence L. Wells, age 94, of Milwaukee, WI and formerly of Huron, SD, died Friday, September 16, 2005 at Ruth Hospice in Milwaukee, WI. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 21st at Grace Episcopal Church with Father George Parmeter officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday morning. Florence Leena Wells was one of twins born to John and Lillie (Stolle) Johannsen on June 6, 1911 at Havana, North Dakota. Florence was a graduate of McIntosh South Dakota High School, Huron College and the Peabody School of Nursing. On June 2, 1934, Florence married Corwin Wells. She was employed for 15 years as a Registered Nurse, nine of those years at Huron College. She then taught first grade for 17 years in the Huron Public Schools. Florence was a member of Grace Episcopal Church for over 60 years, was active in related professional organizations and a Life Member of the Y.W.C.A. She recently moved from her apartment at Sunquest Village to be with her daughter and son-in-law in Wisconsin. This very dedicated professional loved being a first grade teacher. She was especially proud of her students and their accomplishments. She is survived by two children, Goldie (Bill) Markey of Hales Corners, WI and Richard (Ann Marie) Wells of Los Fresnos, TX; 8 grandchildren, Kristi, Chad, Vince, Diane, Jim, Patrick, Jon, and Johann; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Corwin on January 31, 1995, her son John on March 20, 1974, twin brother Floyd and another brother, three sisters, and a grandson, Dana.
