Obituary

Faye I. Nettinga, age 95 of Huron, formerly of Wolsey, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Welter Funeral Home, with burial in the Mausoleum at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 25 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Faye I. Anderson, the second daughter of Fred and Sarah Mae (Baker) Anderson, was born on September 20, 1920 in Huron, SD. Faye moved with her family to a farm west of Wolsey. She attended school and graduated from Wolsey High School in 1938. She was baptized and confirmed in the Wolsey Presbyterian Church. After graduating from high school, Faye did housework and worked for Mrs. Ethel Carson in her local café. Faye married Renus L. Nettinga on March 8, 1942 at her parent's home in Wolsey, SD. The couple then moved to the family farm west of Wolsey. Upon retirement from the farm in 1979, they moved to Wolsey, SD. Faye moved to Huron in 2008. Faye was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Wolsey. She held many offices in the church, among which were president and secretary of the Women's Association. Faye also taught Sunday school for many years and served as elder at the church for 16 years. While on the farm, Faye enjoyed doing hobbies and continued that even more after retirement. She loved to sew and do Crewel embroidery, which she shared with her friends and relatives as well as the people in the church. Grateful for having shared in her life are her sister: Phyllis Cogswell of Aberdeen, SD; her many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Terry and Deb Rohlfs of Wolsey, SD and their children: Steven Rohlfs of Wolsey, SD and Christy (Brad) Saltsman and their daughter, Kyley of Gettysburg, SD. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Renus in 1994; and two sisters, Joyce Christopherson and Beryl "Jackie" Schiebe.
