Faye Lorraine Cronin was born June 19, 1928 in Woonsocket, SD to Clara (Kobriger) and Leo Cronin. The family moved to a farm south of Huron where Faye and her brothers grew up nearly a century ago. She attended Clifton School, riding her horse there each day—a testament to her independent and spirited nature that carried through her life.
Faye was united in marriage to Harold Doolittle on February 28, 1949 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Huron. Together they farmed north of Huron until their retirement in 1991 when they moved into town. They were longtime members of the St. Martin Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish where Faye remained active in the altar society and volunteered at St. Francis Shop. Faye was well known for her warmth, hospitality and genuine care for others. Her home was always open--whether for coffee, a meal or overnight guest. She always had a "meal in the freezer" and always said she had "plenty of beds." She enjoyed her many dear friends, neighbors and family.
The most enjoyable times for Faye, however, were opportunities to be with her family. Holidays and birthdays were special times filled with cooking, traditions and the joy of being together. She took great pride in her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will always remember her kindness, strength and unconditional love.
Faye is survived by her two daughters, Connie Melody of Huron and Debbie (Ralph) Wagner of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren Kristin (Joe) Campbell, Brian (Kaci) Melody, Matthew (Ashley) Wagner, and Michael (Ronnie) Wagner; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Aleah Campbell, Gavin and Charlotte Wagner, and Noelle and Finnegan Wagner.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents, Leo and Clara Cronin; brothers, Jim, William and Kenneth Cronin; son-in-law Bob Melody; nephew Dennis Cronin; and several aunts and uncles.
Faye's life was a reflection of strong faith, family and friendship. Her generous spirit and loving heart will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
