Fay Wipf, age 64, of Huron, SD, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Welter Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-7 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 4-6 p.m.; or Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Fay Wipf was born Fay Marie Dosch, daughter of Andrew and Theresia (Schmidt) Dosch, on November 21, 1946, in Aberdeen, SD. She moved with her family to Huron when she was a small girl. She attended schools in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1964. On June 12, 1965, Fay married Gene French in Huron. They moved to Los Angeles, CA, following their marriage; and in 1969 they moved to Las Vegas, NV. Fay worked in the kitchen department of a local nursing home. Fay returned to Huron in 1987. On December 26, 1990, Fay married Vernal "Iky" Wipf in Las Vegas, NV. Fay worked at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home as a cook and general kitchen help. Her many interests included her pet dogs, painting ceramics in her younger years, having breakfast each morning with her coffee group, playing cards especially rummy, watching television, and faithfully reading the daily newspaper and monthly magazines. She is survived by 1 son, Tony (Belinda) French of Garretson, SD; 1 daughter, Mary (Marty) Mitchell of Huron, SD; 11 grandchildren, Kirstie French, Austin French, Kristoffer Visser, Steven Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, David DuVan, Raven DuVan, Josephine DuVan, Charles DuVan, Daniel Mitchell, and Jonathan Mitchell; 2 great grandchildren, Rylan Mitchell and Leanne Manga; 3 brothers, Arthur (Diane) Dosch of California, Melvin (Jan) Dosch of Huron, and James Dosch of Texas; 1 sister, Florence Hermanson of Las Vegas, NV; and her very best friend, Arlette Ondricek of Huron. Fay was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Vernal on January 25, 2011.
