Evelyn Dugdale, age 90, of Huron died Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at SunQuest Healthcare Center in Huron. Her funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday, October, 22, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 6-8:00 pm Friday, October 21, 2011 at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 pm; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Evelyn was born May 16, 1921 in Woonsocket, SD to Jacob and Mary (Swaney) Emery. Evelyn attended Huron High School, and then later worked at Armour's and Co. She married Melvin Dugdale on September 25, 1940 in Beadle Co. In 1942 the couple moved to San Diego, CA while Melvin was serving in the Navy. They moved to De Smet in 1946 where she raised their eight children and lived there until 1989 when they moved to Huron. Evelyn was a member of the United Church of Christ in De Smet, First Presbyterian Church in Huron, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, TOPS Inc. and 8 et 40. She enjoyed being an amateur radio operator (K0HQD), photography, traveling, music, sewing, quilting and Tri-Chem. Evelyn enjoyed playing games of all kinds and her family traditions were of great importance to her. Evelyn is survived by her eight children, Donna (Ron) Taschner of St. Louis Park, MN, Lee (Sue) Dugdale of Scandia, MN, Irene (Suk Jo) Lee of Seoul, South Korea, Rich (Pamala) Dugdale of Elk River, MN, Jim (Mary) Dugdale of Minneapolis, MN, Rose (Bruce) Carstens of Mitchell, SD, Chris (Lily) Dugdale of Wessington, SD, Mary (Mike) Rudd of Huron, SD; 17 grandchildren, Tammy (Randy), Tony (Jenny), Teri (Andy), Scott (Stephanie), Daniel, Damon, Donya (Jayce), Steven (Jaime), Johnathan (Jana), Kari (Kenny), Christy (James), Casey, Thomas, Joseph, Kathryn (Cory), Jason (Sara) and Aubrey (Randy); 25 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Viola and Arlene; many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 2004, grandchildren, Kenneth and Rachel; great-granddaughter, Amanda; and all of her siblings.
