Eunice R. Hampton, age 84, of Huron, SD, passed away on Thursday July 10, 2014, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 p.m.; or visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Eunice R. Neitzert, the daughter of August and Natalie (Hartwig) Neitzert, was born on August 5, 1929, at her family's home in Huron. She attended school in the Huron area. Eunice married Donald Hampton on September 21, 1946, in Hastings, Nebraska. The couple lived on the family farm north of Huron for 58 years before moving to Huron in 2009. Eunice was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Eunice worked at the Kingdon Variety store in Hitchcock, SD for many years. Eunice was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the VFW Forrest McMullen Post #1776 Women's Auxiliary. Eunice enjoyed quilting. Many of her quilts were donated to the church and various other charities. Eunice enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, puzzles, and playing cards. Eunice loved baking and was especially known for her pies. Grateful for having shared in Eunice's life are her six children: Jeanine (Gene) Harms of Sturgis, SD, Rodney (Linda) Hampton also of Sturgis, SD, Darrel (Sheila) Hampton of Wolsey, SD, Kevin (LuEllen) Hampton of Nisland, SD, Kent (Vickie) Hampton of Huron, SD and Annette (Steve) Bailey of Spearfish, SD; son-in-law, Kelley (Rhonda) Hoffmann of Axtell, NE; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Heisel of Huron, SD; two brothers: August (Grace) Neitzert of Huron, SD and Eddie (Audrey) Neitzert of Mesa, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in June of 2014; her daughter, Tammi Lavonne in 2001; and brother, Fritz Neitzert in 1986.
