Eugene J. Giessinger, age 89, of Huron, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at his home in Huron. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Eugene Giessinger was born on June 21, 1934, to John and Regina (Lesmeister) Giessinger in Milbank, SD. He and his family moved to West Branch, Michigan, where he graduated from high school.

Eugene moved to Huron to work as a Technician at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company where he met his wife, Nancy Schramm.

They were united in marriage on October 9, 1965, in Huron. Eugene enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandsons Sam, Ben and Will.  Many days you could find Eugene golfing at Broadland Creek Golf Course. He was lucky enough to score a hole-in-one twice in his golfing career.  He also enjoyed visiting casinos, meeting with his coffee group at the Plains, and cooking delicious meals. When his son was growing up, Eugene was part of the Zamboni crew for the hockey association, a job he loved.

Eugene kept membership in Telephone Pioneers of America and was an active-duty veteran. He loved to cheer for the Detroit sports teams and the University of Michigan.

He is survived by his son, Jason (Cindy) Giessinger of Bloomington, Illinois; and his three grandsons, Sam, Ben and Will; and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Giessinger; brother Leo Giessinger; and sisters Marie Trandall, Margaret Schmidt, and Richarda Munson.
