Ernie C. Klaschen, age 84, of Wolsey, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, at St. at Johns Lutheran Church in Wolsey. Visitation will be Monday, August 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. and the family will be present at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.; or one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday morning. Ernest C. Klaschen was born on March 30, 1924 to Frank and Laura (Claussen) Klaschen at Wolsey, SD. He graduated from Wolsey High School in 1942. Erniet married Vivian Schaff on June 24, 1951 at Raymond, SD. They made their home in Wolsey. Ernie served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged. Earnie worked as a farmer for his entire life. Ernie was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, being baptized in 1924 and confirmed November 6, 1938. He was also a member the Hershmann-Gordon American Legion Post # 59 in Wolsey for 61 years. Working on John Deere machinery, and farming were his two favorite pastimes. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Vivian, Wolsey, SD; his son, Darlo (Denise) Klaschen, Kenai AK; his daughter Donna (Allan) Phillips, Sioux Falls, SD his two grandchildren, Nick (Kristen) Phillips, and Jennifer Phillips, both of Omaha, NE; his great-granddaughter, Sydney Phillips; his step grandchildren, Rhea and Lindsay Leavitt; his sister, Leona (Don) McKillican of Lakewood, CO; sister-in-law, Darlene Klaschen, Sacramento, CA; and several nieces , nephews, and cousins. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, George and Frank Klaschen.
