E.H. "Butch" Erling, age 53, of 1350 Campbell Drive, Huron, SD, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital at Rochester, MN.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 - 8 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with the family present from 6 - 8 p.m.; or Wednesday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ernest H. Erling was born on March 3, 1955, to C.H. "Carol" and Jacque (Depner) Erling at Huron, SD. He attended school in Huron, and graduated from Huron High School and attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion.
On March 27, 1985, Butch married Mary Hall at Mesa, AZ and they have lived in Huron since that time. He was self-employed as the owner and partner of Raymond Oil in Huron, SD.
He is a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Huron Country Club, South Dakota LP Gas Association and the South Dakota Independent Oilman's Association. His hobbies were golfing, travel, music, and he was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Huron; one son, Charles Jozef Erling of Huron; two step daughters, Amy (Dallas) Almond of Huron and April (Jayson) Drake of Tea, SD; four step grandchildren, Whitney Almond, Macey Almond, Matthew Drake, and Ayden Almond, and his father, C.H. Carol Erling of Huron.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his half brother, Mike Russell, his half-sister Bridget Cook, and two nieces Gennifer Ann Cook and Sara Jo Cook.
