Obituary

Erma E. Hoy, age 98, of 764 Illinois Ave NW, Huron, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, May 25th at Riverview United Methodist Church with Rev. Iva Laudermith officiating. Her graveside rites will be at the Virgil Cemetery prior to her memorial service. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening or Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home. Erma Hoy was born Erma Emma Krutzfeldt on August 9, 1908, to Henry and Anna (Fischer) Krutzfeldt at home near Virgil. She attended Meadow Lark School in Carlyle Township near Virgil. On February 24, 1944, Erma married Eugene Hoy at Huron. She was first employed by the Schmidt family in Huron, then at Bell Bakery and later at Sears and Roebuck Company. She owned and operated the Virgil Pool Hall for several years. She was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club, American Legion Auxiliary #268 of Virgil and the Huron Area Senior Citizens Center. Her hobbies were ceramics at the Senior Center plastic canvass and making necklaces. She is survived by her sister, Emma Kotas; her sister-in-law, Esther Krutzfeldt; and several nieces and nephews, Arlo (Luella) Longcor, Ervin (Betty) Krutzfeldt, Doreen (Kenneth) Eckmann, Dorace (Gene) DeVries, Mel (Betty) Fuehrer, Marcella (Eugene) Sibley, Marjorie (Bruce) Schiltz, Neil (Mona) Kotas, Norma (Jack) Churma, Robert (Cheryl) Krutzfeldt and Lois Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene on December 18, 1973, her parents, 2 sisters, Viola (Claud) Longcor and Elenora (Albert) Fuehrer, 4 brothers, Herbert (Irene) Krutzfeldt, Waldo, Gilbert and Murvin Krutzfeldt and 1 brother-in-law, Edward Kotas.
