Emma Meyer, age 86, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday, July 20th at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Brian Grover officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday morning. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Emma Meyer was born Emma Fastnacht on June 17, 1921, to Carl and Elisabeth (Huether) Fastnacht in Hand County, SD. She attended rural schools and Sand Creek High School. She worked as a riveter at the Douglas Aircraft plant in Long Beach, CA during World War II. She moved to Waukegan, IL and worked at the Naval Base Hospital towards the end of the war. On May 6, 1946, Emma married Hubert A. Meyer in Sioux City, IA. They had three children. They farmed southwest of Huron for 38 years. She worked at Huron Regional Medical Center from 1966 to 1971. In 1984, they retired and moved to Huron. Hubert died November 27, 1989. She married Roland P. Meyer in 1992 and moved to Omaha, NE. Emma moved back to Huron in 1995 and entered the Huron Nursing Home in February 2006. She was very active member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron, where she also taught Sunday School. She is survived by 1 daughter, Beverly (Ray) Wellman of Sioux Falls, SD; 2 sons, Dennis W. (Loretta) Meyer and Lloyd L. (Vickie) Meyer both of rural Huron; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Faye Fastnacht of Wessington Springs and Catherine Fastnacht of Miller and a host of other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert, her parents, 5 sisters, Pauline Moser, Lydia Neuharth, Carrie Winter, Margaret Dobler, Bertha (Uttecht) Langbehn, 3 brothers, Edward, Elvin and Nordal Fastnacht.
