Elnor Madsen, age 74, of 1178 Kansas Ave. SE, Huron, died Friday, December 22, 2006, at her daughters home in Redwood Falls, MN. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 27, at American Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery at Arlington, SD. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday morning. The family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Elnor Madsen was born Elnor Lucille Pedersen on April 30, 1932, to Jens and Alice (Bullis) Pedersen at Arlington, SD. She grew up in rural Arlington and attended school in Arlington. On August 21, 1949, Elnor married Larry Madsen on the Pedersen family farm near Arlington. They moved to Huron where they have lived since that time. Elnor worked at Lewis Drug Store, Chamber of Commerce, O.P. Skaggs Grocery Store, Geigers Western Wear, and the Beadle County Treasurers Office. After her retirement in 1994 she did volunteer work for the Christian Learning Center Pre-School at American Lutheran Church, the Church Circle, Huron Senior Center RSVP, HRMC Hospice, and the Public Health Department. She was a member of American Lutheran Church and the church circle. Her many interests included walking, archery, bow hunting, traveling, reading, gardening, baking and cooking. She constructed over 45 quilts for her family and for wedding gifts, and sewed many doll-clothes for her grandchildrens dolls. She is survived by her husband, Larry of Huron; 1 son, Bruce (Anne) Madsen of Sioux Falls; 1 daughter, Dawn (Toby) Allen of Redwood Falls, MN; 6 grandchildren, Christina Madsen, Michael Madsen, Jean Madsen, Mandy Allen, Jacob Allen, and April (Kyle) Noel; 4 great grandchildren, Keegan, Shay, Zachary, and Reese; her mother, Alice Pedersen of Inwood, IA; 3 brothers, David (Edie) Pedersen of Las Vegas, NV, Arlan (Blanca) Pedersen of Dallas, TX, and Keith Pedersen of Canton, SD; 2 sisters, Carol Carter of Brookings, and Sally Brondsma of Sioux Falls; and Molly her special Boston Terrier. She was preceded in death by her father; 1 son, Gary Madsen; and 2 brothers-in-law, Vern Carter, and Sid Brondsma.
