Obituary

Elmer A. Kutil, age 90, formerly of 115 Colorado Ave SW, Huron, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 31st at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Joe Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Wilfrids Catholic Cemetery at Woonsocket with Military Rites by the Woonsocket American Legion Post # 29. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the Mass at the church Saturday morning. Elmer Kutil was born on July 17, 1916, to James and Marie (Hovel) Kutil at Woonsocket. He attended Woonsocket and Huron schools. After his formal education, he was inducted into the United States Army on July 9, 1941, and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his honorable discharge on January 9, 1946, Elmer moved to Sioux Falls where he worked in construction for several years. In 1953 he moved to Wilmington, CA where he was employed by ARCO Oil Company Refinery. He returned to Huron in 1980 where he has lived since that time. On June 15, 1998, he became a resident of Prairie Crossings at Huron. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish and the William Reaves American Legion Post # 7 of Huron. He is survived by 2 nieces, Phyllis Royer of Indianapolis, IN and Barbara Kenall of North Palm Beach, FL; and a nephew, William Ingalls of Dade County, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Agnes Kutil, Tillie Ingalls, and Emma Rohde; and 1 brother, Richard Kutil.
