Eleanor Nelson, age 98, of Huron, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at Avantara Huron in Huron, South Dakota. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Huron Seventh Day Adventist Church in Huron with burial to follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to the time of service at the church on Friday morning.

Eleanor Erma was born on October 27, 1924 in Hermosa, South Dakota to parents Daniel and Bertha (Haack) Hilton.

Eleanor married Leo Nelson on June 30, 1944 in Butte, Nebraska. Eleanor and Leo moved to Huron in 1950. To this union, seven children were born. Leo passed away in December of 1974. Eleanor worked at St. John's Hospital from 1947-1977 mainly in the Respiratory Therapy Department. Eleanor worked at Huguley Memorial outside of Ft. Worth, TX from 1978-1979. She also worked home health care from 1983-1989.

Eleanor married H.E. "Bill" Davy in Huron on July 3, 1993. Bill passed away in 2001. In 1993, Eleanor graduated from Huron University with a degree in Human Services at the age of 68.

She was a member of AARP, ANL and Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Eleanor is survived by her children, James (Penny Pernu) Kivimaki of Virginia, MN, Sharon (Richard Lyon) Nelson of Huron, and Tim (Brenda Knouse) Nelson of Huron.

She was preceded in death by her children, Daniel, Donald, George, and Leo; her husbands, Leo and Bill; and 11 siblings.
