Eleanor Berndt, age 99, of Huron, died Tuesday, January 21. 2014, at SunQuest Healthcare Center. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with burial at St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 6-8 at Welter Funeral Home with a scripture service and rosary service at 7; or Friday afternoon one hour prior to the service. Eleanor Berndt was born Eleanor May Padesky, daughter of George and Elizabeth (Platt) Padesky, was born on May 6, 1914, in Arlington, SD. She graduated from Huron High School in 1932. On February 12, 1934, Eleanor married George Malikowski at St. Martin Catholic Church in Huron. He died on June 26, 1963. Eleanor was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Catholic Daughters of America and rosary group. On June 27, 1980, Eleanor married Robert Berndt at St. Martin Catholic Church in Huron. He died on January 6, 1998. She is survived by 1 son, Larry Malikowski of Huron; 9 grandchildren, David, Teresa, Mark, Sandi, Windy, Candy, Lori, Kathy, and Mike. She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands, George Malikowski and Robert Berndt; 1 daughter, Janice Waack; and 1 son, Richard Malikowski.
