Eldora Uttecht, age 88, of Grinnell, Iowa and formerly of Huron died on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Her funeral will be 10:30 am Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Living Hope Alliance Church in Huron with burial in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church. Eldora Leona Winter was born on January 3, 1927 in Parkston, SD to Christ and Bertha (Mogck) Winter. She attended country school through the eighth grade. For several years, she helped her parents on the family farm. Eldora married Gilbert Uttecht in Parkston on February 15, 1948. The couple started their life on a farm near Alpena, SD and later moved for a couple of years to Lane, SD. They then returned to the Alpena area in 1958 and Eldora lived on the farm until she moved to Huron in 2007. Eldora was a very active member of the UCC Church in Alpena where she sang in the choir. After moving to Huron, she joined the Wesleyan Church until it closed and then joined the Living Hope Alliance Church. She was also a member of the World Gospel Mission and formerly a member of the Never Giver Uppers Club in the Alpena area. Eldora was a hard working farm wife. She loved spending time with her family and was known for her cooking and baking. Eldora is survived by her children, Connie (Bill) Larsen of Alcester, SD, Glenyce (Dennis) Conway of Grinnell, IA, Delayne (Cathy) Uttecht of Crystal, MN, Kevin (Julie) Uttecht of Huron, SD, Dennis (Peggy) Uttecht of Whitewood, SD and Lori (Jim) Coyle of Ames, IA; 17 grandchildren, Carrie (Brad) Korleski, Craig (Brittany) Larsen, Brian (Lori) Conway, Emily Conway, Daniel (Carrie) Uttecht, Christopher (Jaci) Uttecht, Peter (Dani) Uttecht, Jeremy (Rachel) Uttecht, Kelly (Lacey) Uttecht, Kyle (Corinn) Uttecht, Jayme (Cheyenne) Uttecht, Stephane (Aaron) Shockey, Steven (Liz) Uttecht, Sabrina (Josh) Kirkwood, Samantha (Doug) Heltibridle, Andrew Coyle and Matthew Coyle; 25 great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Schultz of Mitchell, SD; four nieces; and numerous special friends. Eldora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert in 2005; and one sister, Violet Reimnitz.
