Obituary

Elaine Ruth (Klicker) Loesch, of 265 13th SW, Huron, died at home on Saturday, September 8, 2007, one day short of her 70th birthday, after a long and courageous struggle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 14th at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on 21st and Ohio in Huron with the Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Inurnment of her cremated remains will take place at Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum during a memorial celebration of her life on Saturday November 24, 2007. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday morning. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home with a prayer service open to family and friends at 8:00 PM. The family requests that memorials be directed to Elaine Loesch Memorial Fund in care of the Loesch Family, to be distributed between the HRMC Home Health/Hospice and Our Savior Lutheran Church. Elaine Loesch was born Elaine Ruth Klicker on September 9, 1937, to Edward and Hattie (Sibbers) Klicker at the original Klicker family farm southwest of Wolsey. While in her early childhood, elementary and high school years in Wolsey, she grew up on the family farm west of her birth place. After graduating in the class of 1955 as valedictorian, she attended Northwest College of Commerce in Huron, and was office manager at Dakota Sash and Door in Huron. On July 1, 1956, Elaine married Ivan Loesch at Wolsey. They moved to Iowa City, Iowa, where she was employed in the Psychology Department of the University of Iowa before moving with her family to Waverly, MO. In 1962 they returned to Huron, SD. She worked as the secretary of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church for several years, Sears Roebuck and Company, followed by twenty five years with the Huron Center for Independence as office/business manager and later as instructor until her retirement in July 2005. She was highly regarded and loved by friends and associates at Huron Area Center for Independence. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Huron Senior Center, and AARP. She was a talented seamstress, gardener, cook, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Elaine is survived by her husband, Ivan, of Huron; three children, Curtis Loesch of Huron, Lynell (Tom) Nelson of Olathe, KS, and Collin Loesch of Huron; two grand children, Erik Nelson (and fianc Adrienne Koehn), and Kayla Nelson of Olathe, KS; two sisters, Margaret (Jay) Ruckdaschel of Huron, and Marlys (Robert) Barker of Huron; 3 brothers-in-law, Rev. Donald (Carol) Loesch of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rev. Keith (Joan) Loesch of Woodbridge, VA, and Royce (Jeannine) Loesch of Pierre, SD; 1 foster brother-in-law, Lester (Diana) Hortter of Casa Grande, AZ; and many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pat Pomerico, Barb Solomon, and Marianne Cole of Huron. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
