Elaine J. Herker, age 83, of Willow Lake, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Parkview Assisted Living in Bryant. Her memorial service will be 10:30 am on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Inurnment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service.

Elaine was born on August 17, 1938 on the farm in the Huron area to Roy and Lela (Schley) Brodersen. She attended school in Erwin, SD where she graduated from high school. Elaine was united in marriage to Douglas Guerdet on February 14, 1958 in Armstrong, Iowa. They lived in Iowa until Douglas passed away on July 29, 1966 in a truck accident. Elaine later met Paul Twait and they married in 1968 and resided in Graettinger, IA, Paul passed away from a short illness on November 3, 1970. Elaine then met Russell Herker and they married in 1971, but parted ways a few years later. Over the years, Elaine worked at Raven Industries in DeSmet, Chef Ready in Clark, Parkview Care Center in Bryant, and the Willow Lake School. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting afghans, making embroidered dish towels, and making quilts and blankets for her grandbabies. Elaine looked forward to having weekly coffee on weekends with her family.

Elaine is survived by her children; Debra Guerdet (Kevin) Siebrands of Watertown, Patty Guerdet (Brian) Gehrke, Kevin (Kristi) Guerdet, Bonnie Guerdet (Kurtis) Siebrands, Paula Twait (Kerry) Warkenthien all of Willow Lake, and Leroy (Lisa) Twait of Bryant; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Linda) Broderson of DeSmet; one sister, Janet (Joe) Mendel of Brookings; and several brother and sisters-in-law.

Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Marie Guerdet, her three husbands, parents, three brothers, Alvin, Jim, and Jack Brodersen; two great-grandchildren, Lily Joy Siebrands and Joshua Adam Borg; one brother-in-law, Richard Price; and sisters-in-law, Darlene and Marlyn.
