Einar O. Ness, son of Neil and Mildred (Fralick) Ness, was born September 10, 1936, at rural Academy, SD. He attended country school through the 8th grade. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 30, 1954. While in the service he attained his GED. He was honorably discharged on December 13, 1973. Calvary Lutheran Church and church usher; American Legion; VFW; and SD Draft Horse Association. Over the years he owned and broke Black Percheron draft horses. He displayed his pride in the horses by showing them in parades and wedding processions. He also had built a covered wagon from scratch and had his horses pull it in various parades. He also owned and boarded mules. He is survived by 3 siblings, Melvin (LaVonne) Ness of Lake Preston, Neva Parisien of Sioux Falls, and Lyle (Deanne) Ness of Huron; 1 sister-in-law, Linda Ness of Gann Valley; special friend, Carol James of Huron; many nieces and nephews.
