Eileen June Sheffield, age 78, of Huron, SD, formerly of Alpena, SD, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at her home in Huron, SD. Her Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the United Parish of Alpena in Alpena, SD, with burial at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpena. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Eileen June Schorzman, the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Horn) Schorzman, was born on September 16, 1933, in Alpena, SD. She attended school in Virgil and Huron. Eileen married Clayton Sheffield on June 12, 1949, in Alpena, SD. The couple made their home on the family farm near Alpena, SD, for 32 years. Eileen moved to Huron, SD, in 1980. Eileen worked as a Nurse's Aide for the Huron Regional Medical Center for 10 years. She then owned and operated her own Home Health Aide business for 32 years, before retiring in 2010. Eileen was a member of the United Parish of Alpena and attended the Riverview United Methodist Church as well. She had also been a member of the Ladies County Extension Club for 50 years. Eileen enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, and spending time with her family and friends. Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, Jim (Mar) Sheffield of Huron, SD; daughter, Marjean (Dallas) Moe of Huron, SD; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Phyllis Dorsey of Meridian, ID, and Donna (Mead) Kohl of Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton in 1979; and her son, Wayne Sheffield in 2002.
