Obituary

Edwin R. Mueller, age 95, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, and formerly of 420 21st St SW, Huron, died Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, January 16th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Sattgast officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Monday morning. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Edwin R. Mueller was born on March 16, 1910, to Phillip and Rosina (Hauck) Mueller at Lesterville, SD. He was raised in Menno, SD and graduated from Menno High School. On June 25, 1934, Edwin married Estilena Helena Kost at Ree Heights, SD. He worked at a local hotel, soda shop until moving to Sioux Falls, and then Luverne, MN. He farmed for several years at Ree Heights, SD and Miller, SD before moving to Huron in 1946. He worked for O.P. Skaggs grocery store for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where he served on several boards, the Huron Lions Noon Club and RSVP Volunteers. He enjoyed tinkering and crafts, working crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He is survived by 1 son Clyde (Phyllis) Mueller of Wapello, IA; 1 daughter, Rose Marie (Marvin) Eckmann of Huron; 6 grandchildren, Rick (Peggy) Eckmann, Scot Eckmann both of Cavour, Terry (Lynn) Mueller of Malvern, IA, Tammy (Ken) Andersen of Avoca, IA, Teresa Mueller of Fort Dodge, IA and Wayne (Susan) Mueller of Burlington, IA; 11 great grandchildren, Beth Neitzert, Colton Eckmann, Marcus and Mandy Watson, Jenna, Lacey, Kahlie and Lexi Eckmann, Alex, Brighton and Lydia Mueller; and 1 sister Betty Eversole of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife Estilena on November 29, 2000, his parents, a daughter-in-law, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 sister in infancy, 2 sisters-in-law, and 3 brothers-in-law. Casket bearers will be Rick Eckmann, Scot Eckmann, Colton Eckmann, Terry Mueller, Tammy Andersen and Teresa Mueller. Memorials may be directed to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
