Edward C. Taylor, age 80, of 155 Colorado Ave SW, Huron, died Saturday, November 6, 2004, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital at Mitchell. His funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 10, at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Brian Grover officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery with Military Rites by the Huron Veterans Council. Friends may call this Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Wednesday morning. The family will be present at the funeral home from 7 - 8 PM this Tuesday evening. Edward Cowles Taylor was born on June 18, 1924, to Eugene and Elizabeth (Greene) Taylor in Huron, SD. He attended and graduated from Huron High School in 1941, and attended the University of California, and graduated from Huron University in 1954. After his graduation Ed served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Ed was united in marriage to Patricia Brumwell on June 28, 1953, at the Congregational Church in Huron. After returning home from the service he went into business with his brother, Alva, and they opened Taylor Camera Store in Huron, which evolved into Taylor Films and was later incorporated into Taylor Audio Visual Inc., which he owned and operated for over forty years. From 1984 to August of 2004, Ed worked for Pratt Audio-Visual, Incorporated as an independent representative. Ed enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling, remodeling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Huron Rotary Club, the Elks, the American Legion, the Mr. & Mrs. Dance Club, and the National Audio-Visual, Inc. He is survived by his three children, Deb (Robert) Mahowald of Richmond, MN, Gene Taylor, of Huron, SD, and Rita Taylor, of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Angela Taylor, of Scottsdale, AZ, Chad Taylor, of Brandon, SD, and Brian Mahowald, of Richmond, MN; his brother, Alva Taylor, of Mass.; and a very special friend, Maxine Robertson. His wife, Patricia and his parents preceded him in death.
