Edward R. Peterson, age 95, of Huron, and formerly of Wolsey, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at Sunquest Healthcare Center in Huron. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wolsey with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation with family present will be on Friday, October 17, from 6-8 pm at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 pm; or Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Edward was born to Christian and Emma (Heller) Peterson on November 15, 1918 in Wolsey and was educated in a rural school in Vernon Township. Edward was united in marriage to Alma Opperman on June 10, 1943 in Wolsey. Together, they lived on their farm in rural Wolsey until Alma's passing. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a Vernon Township Board member. Edward enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and reminiscing about the "old days" when he was growing up with his brothers on the farm. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, trustee, and church cemetery board member. Edward is survived by 2 daughters, JoAnn (William) St. Clair of Tulare and Judy (Jerry) Boram of Salado, TX; one son, Richard (Lisa) Peterson of Wolsey; 7 grandchildren, Deborah St. Clair, William St. Clair, David (Stephanie) Boram, Douglas (Monica) Boram, Jessica (Gavin) McGehee, Justin Peterson, and Jacob Peterson; 4 great grandchildren, Tru Howell, Collyns Howell, Adalyn Howell, Bryce Boram. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma on June 6, 2004; 7 brothers; 2 sisters; 2 nieces, and 2 nephews.
