Edna Neuharth, age 94, of 50 7th St. SE, Huron, SD, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday, January 21, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kevin Channell officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the Welter Funeral Home or Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Edna Neuharth was born Edna Magdalena Carolina Ochsner on January 19, 1913, to Nicholaus Nick and Katherina Katie (Wahl) Ochsner in Beadle County near Virgil, SD. She was baptized and confirmed in the Reformed Church. Edna attended country school. On February 15, 1934, Edna married Gideon Neuharth in Alpena. They lived and farmed near Alpena until 1987 when they moved to Huron, SD. Edna lived in her home until 2001 when she moved to StoneyBrook Suites in Huron. She became a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in 2004. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, and member of Circle 1. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano for her own enjoyment. She is survived by 4 children, LeRoy (Judy) Neuharth of Huron, SD, Eileen (Victor) Dracy of Wolsey, SD, Dianne (Ron) Rasmussen of Mosinee, WI, and Kathy (Jim) Fink of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren, Vicki (Calvin) Jarabek, David (Linda) Dracy, Mark (Cindy) Neuharth, Tami Hurley, Tim (Teri) Eddy, Teresa (Cy) Haatvedt, Tyann (Tom) Neiman, Troy (Janita) Rasmussen, Melissa (Chris) Hill, Michael Peskey, Scot (Kristie) Peskey, and Jonathan (Billie) Peskey; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Verna Hemmingson of Watertown, SD; and 2 sisters-in-law, Leah Ochsner of Huron, SD, and Dorrie Ochsner of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gideon on November 26, 1995; a daughter, Janice Eddy on August 19, 1973; a son-in-law, James Peskey; 6 brothers, Ted Ochsner, Albert Ochsner, Rueben Ochsner, Helmuth Ochsner, Calvin Ochsner, and Emil Ochsner; 2 sisters, Ruth Schnable, and Ardella Brandenburg; 3 brothers-in-law, Peter Hemmingson, Edwin Schnable, and William Brandenburg; 4 sisters-in-law, Lydia Ochsner, Orilla Ochsner, Ruby Ochsner, and Margaret Ochsner.
