Edna Meyer, age 89, of 1345 Michigan Ave SW, Huron and formerly of rural Alpena, died Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the Huron Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be 1:30 PM Friday, December 16th at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at Wessington Springs with Rev. John Paulson officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Welter Funeral Home or prior to the service at the church Friday afternoon. The family will be present from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Edna Meyer was born Edna J. Henke on September 18, 1916, to John and Louise (Uttecht) Henke near Parkston, SD. She attended school at Parkston and helped on the family farm. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Hofer at Parkston. On June 7, 1953 Edna married Alrod Meyer at Salem Lutheran Church at Parkston. After their marriage they made their home in the Alpena area. Edna was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. She is survived one sister, Mrs. Emma (Norbert) Lehrkamp of Delmont; one sister-in-law, Aneda Fredrickson of Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, Arnold, Herbert, Hugo and Walter Henke; and two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Doering and Olga Bauder. Casket bearers will be Donnie Henke, Kenneth Henke, Gaylen Henke, Ron Ensenbach, Ernie Wuertzer and Vernal Hanson.
