Edith Webster, age 89, of 1345 Michigan Ave. SW, Huron, SD, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Huron SunQuest Healthcare Center.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at Grace Episcopal Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 p.m. at the Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m.; or Saturday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church.
There will be a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Edith Webster was born Edith Christine Wick on November 11, 1919, to Engbret and Anna (Erickson) Wick in Spokane, WA. She received her education in Spokane and graduated from John Rogers High School in 1940.
Following her formal education she worked in Spokane for a period of time as a domestic for several families, and then for the White Pine Sash Company during World War II.
On January 11, 1948, Edith was married to Paul Webster in Spokane. The couple moved to Huron where the couple lived and Edith was a homemaker and raised her family.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, St. Mary's Altar Guild, and the St. Agnes Guild. In addition to enjoying the time that she could spend with her family, especially the grandchildren, her many interests included reading, baking, bicycling, and gardening.
She is survived by 2 sons, Paul Jr. (Dawn) Webster of Oceanside, CA, and Robert (Audrey) Webster of Cokato, MN; 4 daughters, Trudy (Dean) Schroeder of Sioux Falls, Kathy (Bob) Wingert of Woonsocket, Cheryl (Byron) Severtson of Huron, and Dawn (Bill) Johnson of Huron, 17 grandchildren, Shana (Eddy) Ries, Chad Severtson, Gina Severtson, Christy Wingert, Katie Wingert, Marty Wingert, Kelly (Terrell) Ormson, Abby Webster, Alex Webster, Anna Webster, Taylor Webster, Elizabeth Johnson, Emily Johnson, Logan Johnson, Steve (Denise) Schroeder, and Tamara Schroeder; 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Ethelyn Williams of Everett, WA; 1 brother-in-law, John Neiffer of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on October 30, 1998; 1 grandson, Benjamin Wingert; 1 brother, Andy (Eileen) Wick.
